Lightning cracks the sky,
As I reach through the veil,
Waiting for death to take me,
Frozen to the bone,
The stars are blinding,
As I close my eyes to pray.

Waiting for Hermes to guide me,
As my soul is pulled beneath the leaves,
Into the crushing black oblivion,
The Earth rises to greet me,
My body is shattered on the rocks,
But I keep (sinking further down),
Falling, churning, spinning, screaming,
For what feels like forever.

Through the earth so black and burnt,
And when I finally stop falling,
Darkness follows and covers me like smoke.
As the smoke clears away Hermes stands there waiting,
The Shepard of Lost Souls with a Golden Coin,
Beneath a giant archway made of stone,
Engraved with a hellish warning,
“Woe To All Depraved Souls, Who Enter Here”.

Charon stares with eyes of fire,
And a blackened outstretched hand,
The Golden Coin seems so bright,
In this dark and dreary place,
He snatches it up without a word,
Board the boat or be lost,
Between two broken worlds.

Californian quartet defining themselves as Sci-Fi black metal, maybe due to cosmic and interstellar topics, sounding like blackened death metal too ("The Maw"). It's a well-balanced melodic black metal album, with some fast-paced tracks and nice rhythmic transitions reminding me of Swiss band Celtic Frost (e.g. Terminal Odyssey). In other words not overly dominated by drum speed and also not sounding as extreme or as raw as some BM can be. sachavonkarl74
