I can hear the distant whisper of Demons screaming in the dark,
An unthinkable beastly howling in the distance,
The only way out is through,
Relentless pursuit of Hellhounds at my heels,
Getting closer, second by second, inch by inch, gaining ground every minute.
I run harder and harder, faster and faster,
Until I reach the Cocytus,
Lamentation burns my will,
Hellhounds swarm around me,
Their eyes are locked on me,
Hunters stalk their prey,
Making sure I have no hope of escape,
And then they pounce,
Snapping and tearing,
Ripping and shredding.
First they take my legs so I can’t run,
Then my arms so that I can’t fight,
Then my eyes so that I can’t see,
Finally my heart so that I can’t feel.
As I float along to nowhere my soul reforms and I finally see the truth,
The wailing of lost souls squirming and writhing in eternal misery,
Their lament weighs heavily on me and threatens to drag me down,
I can’t take their agony, I have enough within me,
When I get up to leave The Furies are standing above me.
They drag me on black wings to The Palace,
Where Hades sits laughing on his throne,
I beg him to call off the hunt but he laughs and snaps his fingers,
Once again I fall, like Icarus my wax wings burn in the River of Fire,
I drift down further than ever before down into the bowels of Tartarus.
This timeless place has broken my spirit and robbed me of my will to fight,
Even the greatest and the mightiest have a higher power that they answer to,
I’ll leave behind every “gift” from the Gods,
I'm the sacrificial lamb, waiting to be thrown into the flames,
Nothing but pain awaits me in this burning inferno.

Californian quartet defining themselves as Sci-Fi black metal, maybe due to cosmic and interstellar topics, sounding like blackened death metal too ("The Maw"). It's a well-balanced melodic black metal album, with some fast-paced tracks and nice rhythmic transitions reminding me of Swiss band Celtic Frost (e.g. Terminal Odyssey). In other words not overly dominated by drum speed and also not sounding as extreme or as raw as some BM can be. sachavonkarl74
